The COVID-19 crisis has brought about many changes to the world and the way in which we interact with one another. In response to the many questions surrounding the current environment, we are issuing the following guidance on meals:
- Reimbursement for meals for virtual events are not allowed under UC’s Travel & Entertainment Policy BUS-79, which requires an in-person meeting. The University pays for meals when groups gather together in-person at a UCLA-related event. However, when participating in a virtual meeting or event, the attendees are not taking part in an in-person event.
- UCLA has suspended all non-essential events of any size until further notice. This means that meals for non-essential events will not be approved for payment by our office. Meals related to employee morale or on-the-job-meals for essential employees working on campus or onsite in the Health system are excluded from these restrictions.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these times.
